Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old.
  • You had a stroke (ischemic, bleeding in the brain, or subarachnoid hemorrhage) and needed a breathing tube placed in your windpipe.
  • Your vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, breathing rate, temperature, blood oxygen) are stable.
  • The breathing tube was placed within 24 to 72 hours after your stroke.
  • You or your legal guardian must sign a consent form agreeing to join the study.
  • You do not have serious heart, lung, liver, kidney, or blood clotting problems, active cancer, or uncontrolled infections.
