This study tests an experimental eye drop (KB803) to see if it can reduce painful scrapes on the surface of the eye in people with dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. You would be randomly assigned to receive either the study drops or a placebo (an inactive drop) for several months.

Who can take part

  • You have a confirmed diagnosis of dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB) with a specific gene change.
  • You must be at least 6 months old.
  • You need to have a minimum number of painful eye surface scrapes (corneal abrasions) each month as defined by the study.
  • You cannot be pregnant, nursing, or unwilling to use birth control during the trial.
  • You cannot have started any new eye treatments or changed your eye care routine in the weeks before the study (except for artificial tears or preservative-free antibiotic drops).
