Study of a bone graft for two-level lower back fusion

Who can take part

  • You need to have damage or deformity in your lower spine (L2 to S1) that requires surgery to fuse two levels together.
  • You must have symptoms like leg pain, numbness, weakness, or trouble walking due to pinched nerves, confirmed by an MRI or other scan within the past year.
  • You should have tried non-surgical treatments (like physical therapy or medications) for at least 3 months without enough relief.
  • You must be between 18 and 80 years old and have a preoperative disability score of at least 35% (meaning your back problem significantly limits daily activities).
  • You cannot have had prior spine surgery at the levels being treated, except for simple decompression like a discectomy.
  • You must be able to stop smoking for at least 12 weeks before the procedure and during the study.
