- You have major depression that is currently active
- You score at least 29 on a depression severity questionnaire
- You are at least 18 years old and in good physical health
- You are not taking any antidepressant medications right now
- You have not had drug or alcohol dependence in the last 6 months
- You are not a smoker (no nicotine use for at least 1 year)
