Who can take part
- You are having planned heart bypass surgery (off-pump) on at least two blood vessels.
- Your heart pumps at least 35% of blood out each beat (LVEF 35% or higher).
- Your liver and kidneys are working well enough (certain lab tests are within limits).
- You have not taken strong anti-inflammatory drugs or immune-suppressing medicines in the last 30 days.
- You do not have an active infection, an autoimmune disease, or a history of allergies to the study drug.
- You are not having an emergency surgery or a procedure that also fixes a heart valve or the main artery from the heart.
