New way to diagnose blood clots in the lungs using saline

Who can take part

  • You have sudden trouble breathing and a suspected or confirmed blood clot in your lungs.
  • You either already had a CT scan in the past 24 hours or will have one within the next 24 hours.
  • You are over 18 years old.
  • You have a central line (a special IV in your neck or collarbone area) or a regular IV in your arm.
  • You are willing to participate and sign a consent form (or have a guardian sign for you).
  • You can hold your breath for at least 8 seconds.
