  • Your child is an infant or up to 1 year old.
  • Your child has a congenital heart defect that requires surgery with a heart-lung machine.
  • Your child's heart defect can be surgically treated (not inoperable).
  • Your child did not have brain injury from low oxygen at birth that needed cooling treatment.
