  • You are 65 years or older.
  • You are in generally fair health (classified as ASA 2 or 3).
  • You are scheduled for a major leg surgery (like hip or knee replacement).
  • You do not have a known history of dementia or Alzheimer's disease.
  • You do not have allergies to the study drug (dexmedetomidine) or similar medicines.
