Who can take part

  • You are 22 years or older.
  • You have had a diabetic foot ulcer for at least 12 weeks but less than 2 years that has not healed with usual treatment.
  • The wound is on your lower leg or foot, in the bottom third of the shin area.
  • You have at least one open blood vessel in your lower leg (after a procedure to improve blood flow if needed).
  • Your wound is at least as large as a grape but smaller than a golf ball (1 to 30 cubic cm).
  • You are not on dialysis, do not have active infections throughout your body, and are not taking high doses of steroids.
