Who can take part

  • You have cirrhosis (scarring of the liver).
  • You had bleeding from enlarged veins in your esophagus or stomach due to liver disease.
  • You had your spleen removed by laparoscopic surgery at our center.
  • Your spleen surgery was more than a year ago, and you developed a blood clot in the main vein to your liver after that.
  • You do not have active cancer, a bleeding disorder, or use certain blood-thinning medications.
  • You are not pregnant and do not have uncontrolled high blood pressure or HIV.
