Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older.
  • You have a type of blood cancer (like lymphoma, myelodysplasia, or acute myeloid leukemia) and are getting chemotherapy that will likely cause a low white blood cell count for less than a week.
  • You have not had a stem cell transplant or CAR-T cell therapy.
  • You are not allergic to the antibiotics being tested (amoxicillin-clavulanate or ciprofloxacin).
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, and you use effective birth control.
  • You do not have certain medical conditions like long QT syndrome, severe lung disease (COPD), or kidney problems (creatinine clearance below 30).
