Who can take part
- You have Type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, with a blood test showing higher than normal sugar levels (A1c of 5.7 or more).
- You have nerve damage in your feet or legs confirmed by a special test (called EMG/NCS) that shows your nerves are not working as well as normal.
- You have pain from these nerves that is at least moderate—at least 4 on a 0 to 10 pain scale—along with numbness or less feeling.
- You are 18 years or older and can come to follow-up visits at the study center.
- You have no other condition that might cause nerve pain, such as vitamin B12 or folate deficiency, thyroid problems, autoimmune disease, or certain other medical issues like HIV or multiple myeloma.
- You do not have Type 1 diabetes.
