This study tests whether medications that calm mast cells (immune cells) can reduce lingering symptoms from certain tick-borne infections. You may qualify if you had Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, or alpha-gal syndrome and still have bothersome symptoms months after treatment.

Who can take part

  • Age 21–65 and able to read and speak English
  • Past diagnosis of Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, or alpha-gal syndrome (confirmed by a doctor) at least 6 months ago
  • Current symptoms from that illness causing real distress or difficulty with daily life
  • Not pregnant and willing to use birth control if needed during the study
  • Willing to stop taking Benadryl and avoid certain other medications during the study
  • No allergy to the study drugs (fexofenadine, cromolyn, or ketotifen)
