- Age 18–80 years old
- Previous high-dose radiation therapy (at least 66 Gy) to the nasopharynx
- Cancer has returned locally or in nearby lymph nodes, confirmed by imaging or biopsy
- Currently receiving or have recently completed re-irradiation (second round of radiation therapy)
- Visible scar-like tissue (pseudomembrane) in the nasopharynx during or after re-irradiation
- Expected to live longer than 1 year
