- You are 18 years or older
- You are scheduled for major surgery (spine, heart, liver, vascular, chest, abdominal, or brain surgery) at UT Southwestern Medical Center
- You can give informed consent yourself or through a legal representative
- It is safe to place monitoring sensors on your forehead or scalp without interfering with your surgery
- Your medical records and surgery data will be available for the research team to analyze
- You do not have facial or scalp wounds that would prevent safe sensor placement
