Who can take part
- You must be at least 18 years old
- You must be evaluated for ECMO treatment (a machine that takes over heart and lung function)
- You cannot have already regained a heartbeat before the ECMO machine is started
- Your face must be intact enough to allow placement of a pupil-monitoring device on your eye
- Your scalp must be free from major wounds or bandages that would prevent sensor placement
