Who can take part

  • Age 18–65 years
  • Diagnosed with thyroid eye disease with optic nerve compression (confirmed by imaging and vision loss)
  • Need urgent eye socket decompression surgery because steroids didn't help or you can't take steroids
  • Thyroid function normal or only mildly abnormal, and liver/kidney blood tests acceptable
  • No recent eye or orbit surgery, radiation, or other immunosuppressive medications
  • If female of childbearing age: negative pregnancy test and agreement to use contraception for 90 days after treatment
