Fat Response and Diabetes Risk Study

Prediabetes / Type 2 Diabetes

This study looks at how your body processes fat after eating and measures certain blood markers to understand who might develop diabetes or complications. You'll eat a high-fat meal and have blood drawn to help doctors identify early warning signs.

Who can take part

  • Age 50–70 years old
  • BMI (body weight relative to height) between 25–30 kg/m²
  • Blood sugar control level (HbA1c) depending on your current status: ≤7% if you have type 2 diabetes, ≤6.5% if prediabetic, ≤5.7% if no diabetes
  • Not taking certain cholesterol or fat-metabolism medications (ezetimibe, fenofibrate, omega-3 supplements, or similar drugs)
  • Kidneys working well (eGFR ≥60) with no signs of kidney disease for 3+ months
  • Willing to stop or limit alcohol during the study
