Who can take part
- You’re age 20 to 75, and can understand and consent to the study.
- You fit one of these groups: type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, impaired fasting glucose/prediabetes, or you’re scheduled for bariatric (weight-loss) surgery, or you’re a healthy control.
- If you have diabetes, you must not be taking lipid-lowering drugs (cholesterol medicines).
- You must not take omega-3 or other omega fatty acid supplements during the study.
- You must not take thiazolidinediones (a type of diabetes medicine).
- You must not have signs of heart disease on your history and/or ECG (heart tracing).
