  • Recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (within 6 months)
  • Age 18–45 years old
  • Your pancreas still produces some insulin (measurable C-peptide)
  • No immunosuppressive medications in the past 3 months
  • No active infections (HIV, hepatitis, tuberculosis) or recent cancer
  • Willing to use contraception and avoid pregnancy during the study

Study of immune-modulating drugs for new-onset type 1 diabetes

This study tests two different medications (Anti-Thymocyte Globulin and Adalimumab or Verapamil) to see if they can slow down the loss of insulin production in people with newly diagnosed type 1 diabetes. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive one of the treatments and will be followed for about a year to see how well their bodies still make insulin.
