  • You are 18 years or older
  • You are scheduled for spine surgery under general anesthesia (sleep)
  • Your surgery includes intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring—nerve activity checks during surgery to protect your spine and nerves
  • You do not have a pre-existing nerve disease (like stroke effects, severe numbness, or paralysis) that could interfere with nerve monitoring
  • You have not taken certain neurological or sedative medications in the 48 hours before surgery
  • You do not have severe heart or lung disease that would make anesthesia risky
