Who can take part

  • Be between 19 and 64 years old
  • Have a moderate-to-severe cartilage defect in one knee (ICRS grade 3 or 4, sized between 5–10 cm²)
  • Your knee damage should be the type that typically needs microfracture surgery
  • No severe arthritis, inflammatory joint disease, or major ligament tears in the target knee
  • No history of cartilage surgery on this knee (diagnostic looking-only is okay)
  • Not currently on immunosuppressive medications or have serious conditions like cancer, heart disease, or autoimmune disease
