Who can take part
- Age 18–80 years old
- Able to understand and sign consent to participate
- Able to have MRI scans of your lower spine and thigh
- Either have chronic kidney disease (kidney function below 60 for at least 3 months) OR have normal kidney function (for the control group)
- No MRI contraindications like pacemakers, metal implants, or severe claustrophobia
- Not currently taking bone-loss medications like bisphosphonates
