Brain stimulation treatment for moderate to severe insomnia

Moderate to Severe Insomnia

This trial tests a device that delivers gentle electrical currents to the brain to improve sleep in people with moderate to severe insomnia. The treatment is done at home for 20 minutes a day, 5 days a week, for 4 weeks, and you may receive either the active device or a placebo (sham) device.

Who can take part

  • You are between 22 and 65 years old.
  • You have moderate to severe insomnia (scoring 15 or higher on a standard sleep questionnaire).
  • You have been diagnosed with insomnia by a doctor.
  • You agree not to use sleep tracking devices or apps during the study.
  • You can read and write English at an 8th grade level or above.
  • You can commit to 20 treatment sessions (40 minutes each) over 4 weeks.
  • If you take sleep medication, your dose must have been stable for at least 3 months.
