Radiation for pain relief in advanced pancreatic cancer

This trial tests whether a targeted radiation treatment to a nerve bundle in the abdomen (called the coeliac plexus) can reduce pain in people with advanced pancreatic cancer. If you have significant pain that isn't controlled by your current medications, this approach may help improve your comfort and quality of life.

Who can take part

  • You have pain from pancreatic cancer that isn't helped enough by painkillers.
  • Your cancer is either too advanced to remove surgically or has spread to other parts of the body.
  • You have had a biopsy (tissue sample) showing pancreatic cancer.
  • You are not a candidate for treatments aimed at curing the cancer (like high-dose radiation or surgery).
  • You are 18 or older, can give written consent, and are able to answer questionnaires.
