This trial tests whether a relaxation technique called Benson Relaxation can help reduce anxiety and depression in people who have recently had an ischemic stroke. If you are in the first two weeks after your stroke and feeling anxious or depressed, this study may offer a calming, non-drug approach to support your recovery.

Who can take part

  • You have had an ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel) within the last 7 to 14 days.
  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You are awake, stable, and able to talk and understand clearly.
  • You are experiencing anxiety or depression, as measured by a standard screening questionnaire.
  • You do not have severe problems with speaking, seeing, or hearing that would prevent you from following the relaxation exercises.
  • You are not currently in another clinical trial and do not have a long-term mental illness or use antipsychotic medication.
