Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You had a stroke at least 4 weeks ago and your condition is stable.
  • You are right-handed.
  • You are currently feeling depressed, with a score of 5 or higher on a depression screening test (PHQ-9).
  • You have not taken any antidepressant medications yet.
  • You do not have metal in your head (like plates or implants), a pacemaker, or other devices that would make brain stimulation unsafe.
  • You have at least 8 years of formal education.
  • You have not had therapy specifically for depression that involved mindfulness or cognitive behavioral therapy before.
  • You are able to undergo MRI scans and follow study instructions.
