Rehab program for adults after ICU recovery on ECMO
Part of Bones, joints & muscles, Brain & nervous system, Heart & circulation, Lungs & breathing clinical trials.
This trial looks at a recovery and rehabilitation approach for adults who were very sick and needed a machine called ECMO to support breathing and heart function. It may help people regain strength and function after a severe ICU illness.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.

- Have had severe breathing and heart failure that required ECMO
- Have your doctors (and required consultees) agree you should join the study
- Do not have had a previous stroke

This trial is for people with severe lung failure (ARDS) who are already on a life-support machine called VV-ECMO. It tests whether adding a special breathing tube (CPAP) can help their lungs heal better.
This trial tests a full-course strategy using a heart-lung bypass machine (ECMO) for people with moderate-to-severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), a serious lung condition. The goal is to see if starting and continuing ECMO throughout treatment improves recovery.
This study looks at inflammation during ECMO (a heart-lung bypass machine) and while people are being weaned off it. It may help doctors better understand which patients are improving safely during ECMO and when to reduce support.
This study looks at whether a rehabilitation approach improves recovery outcomes for people who survived COVID-19 or a serious breathing infection and needed ICU/PICU care. It may help those still dealing with physical or functional problems after their critical illness.
This study tests if gentle exercise in bed can help people on ECMO (a life-support machine for heart and lungs) get stronger and recover faster. It is for adults in the ICU who are stable enough to move safely.
This trial is studying rehabilitation practices for people in the ICU who need a breathing machine (ventilator) for at least 48 hours. It aims to improve recovery and care for critically ill patients.
