Boost radiation for HPV throat cancer with shorter treatment

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and can sign an informed consent form
  • Your cancer biopsy shows squamous cell cancer in the oropharynx (throat area)
  • Your tumor tests positive for HPV (either p16 staining or HPV in-situ test)
  • Your cancer stage is T1 to T3 with N1 and M0 (stage I–II), and the main tumor is under 30 cc
  • Your overall health is good enough for treatment (ECOG 0 to 2) and you plan curative chemoradiation
  • You are not pregnant (for people who could become pregnant, pregnancy test must be negative)
