Who can take part

  • You’re 18 to 85 years old.
  • If you have COPD, you must have mild or moderate COPD and meet specific breathing test results (FEV1/FVC below normal; FEV1 in the right range).
  • If you have COPD, you must have smoked more than 10 pack-years in your life.
  • You must not have other major heart, metabolic (like uncontrolled sugar issues), or nerve/muscle problems that can affect breathing or exercise response.
  • You can’t be unable to do a bike-exercise test due to a muscle or joint injury.
  • If you have COPD, you must NOT currently take oral prednisone, PDE5 inhibitors (erection-medicine like sildenafil), or use supplemental oxygen.
