This study looks for the best way to treat Mycobacterium abscessus (MABS), a difficult lung infection. You may join a treatment group, or first join an observation group and possibly move into treatment later if you meet the criteria.

Who can take part

  • You have confirmed MABS lung infection based on symptoms, scan findings, and positive lab cultures (or special biopsy results).
  • You have not been treated for MABS in the last 12 months (with limited exceptions, like certain routine azithromycin use).
  • You can attend study visits and take part in the study procedures as directed by the study team.
  • You can give consent (or a parent/guardian can, if you’re under 18).
  • If you’re joining the treatment group, you cannot be pregnant or planning to keep breastfeeding.
