Who can take part
- You are an adult age 18 or older.
- Your facial pain is on one side (unilateral essential trigeminal neuralgia).
- You are being evaluated/treated through the neurosurgery or pain assessment/treatment services for suspected blood-vessel/nerve conflict.
- You do not have a known neurodegenerative or inflammatory neurologic disease (such as conditions that keep getting worse over time or inflammatory nerve/brain conditions).
- You have not had surgery for “DMV” before.
- You can safely have an MRI (no absolute MRI contraindications).
