Who can take part

  • You are 18 to 85 years old
  • You are getting your first total knee replacement for arthritis
  • Your anesthesiology risk score (ASA) is less than 4
  • You can safely receive standard blood-thinner injections (low-molecular-weight heparin, or LMWH) for prevention
  • You are not currently on full-dose blood thinners or strong anti-platelet medicines
  • You can sign consent and follow the study visits and procedures
