Who can take part

  • Be 18–70 years old for schizophrenia, up to 65 for major depression, and no upper age limit for bipolar depression
  • Have a confirmed diagnosis of schizophrenia (or related conditions), major depression without hallucinations, or bipolar depression during a depressive episode
  • Have a clear “treatment failure” right now (your current medicine didn’t control symptoms as expected, even after at least 4 weeks at a proper dose)
  • Have moderate-or-worse symptoms and noticeable daily functioning problems
  • If you can become pregnant, use effective birth control; if you use valproate during the study, use effective birth control measures
  • Be willing to sign written consent before any study procedures
