This trial studies whether tranexamic acid (a medicine that helps slow blood breakdown) can improve outcomes for people with symptomatic subdural hematoma—blood collecting between the brain and its outer covering. You may be able to join if you’re older, have bleeding seen on CT, symptoms linked to the bleed, and meet several safety and timing rules.

Who can take part

  • Age 45 or older
  • Body weight between 45 and 150 kg
  • CT scan shows a subdural hematoma at least 8 mm thick
  • You have symptoms that fit with the subdural hematoma (like headache, confusion, weakness/numbness, speech/vision problems, seizures, or drowsiness)
  • You can take the study medicine as planned (or have a caregiver who can administer it)
  • You have no key “not eligible” safety issues (such as pregnancy, severe kidney disease, certain clotting/bleeding disorders, or recent major blood clots)
