Who can take part
- You are older than 18 years
- You had a stroke involving the Sylvian area, and doctors are considering decompressive hemicraniectomy (decompression surgery) for you
- You need a brain MRI as part of your current work-up (or you had a scan after thrombectomy showing certain brain changes)
- You can have the MRI contrast medicine gadobutrol safely (no true allergy/intolerance to gadobutrol, and kidney function is adequate with creatinine clearance ≥ 15 ml/min)
- You can give consent, and you are covered by a health insurance plan
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding
