Heart health and eating patterns in short sleepers

Sleep Deprivation

This study tests whether changing the time window when you eat can improve heart health for people who naturally sleep 6.5 hours or less per night. You'll be asked to follow either a longer or shorter daily eating period while researchers measure blood pressure and other heart disease risk factors.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 45 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 25 and 35 (overweight or slightly obese).
  • You usually sleep 6.5 hours or less per night.
  • You typically eat or drink (besides water) over more than 14 hours each day.
  • You do not have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, or heart disease. (It's okay to have slightly high blood pressure or slightly high blood sugar.)
  • If you could become pregnant, you must agree to use approved birth control during the study.
