Shear wave test for carotid plaque stiffness

Who can take part

  • You have a narrowing (stenosis) greater than 50% in at least one carotid artery due to plaque buildup.
  • You have not had surgery on your neck or received radiation treatment to your neck area.
  • Your carotid artery narrowing is not caused by a vascular inflammatory disease (like vasculitis).
  • You are not pregnant.
  • Your carotid artery is positioned low enough in the neck so it can be seen clearly with an ultrasound probe.
