Who can take part

  • You have a foot or leg ulcer that is at least 1 cm square (up to 3 ulcers, total area no bigger than 20 cm square).
  • You have tried standard wound care (like special dressings) for at least 3 weeks without improvement.
  • You have been diagnosed with peripheral artery disease, and your leg pulses (ankle) are weak or absent.
  • You have had a doctor confirm that surgery or angioplasty cannot restore blood flow to your lower leg, or that it has already been tried and failed in the last year.
  • You are not pregnant, do not have an active infection in the ulcer, and do not have cancer or certain infectious diseases (like HIV, hepatitis, or HTLV).
