Who can take part

  • You have newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (you may have had one round of a bortezomib-based treatment for urgent symptoms like bone pain or kidney issues).
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • Your cancer is measurable through blood or urine tests or scans (for example, a certain level of M protein in blood or light chains in urine, or a tumor that can be seen on CT or MRI).
  • You are in good enough physical condition to walk and take care of yourself (ECOG score of 0-2).
  • Your cancer has high-risk features, such as certain chromosome changes (like t(4;14), 1q21 gain, or others), or it is stage 3 by R-ISS, or there are plasma cells in your blood (plasma cell leukemia).
  • Your kidneys, liver, and blood counts meet minimum levels (for example, creatinine clearance of 40 or more, neutrophils and platelets are high enough).
  • You are willing to use effective birth control during the study and for one year after, and women must have a negative pregnancy test.
