Who can take part

  • You are 18 or older and your doctor thinks you are healthy enough for a procedure.
  • You have symptoms of a blood clot in your lung that started within the last 14 days.
  • A CT scan shows a clot in a main lung artery and your heart's right side is slightly enlarged.
  • Your blood pressure stays above 90 mmHg (with or without fluids) and your heart rate is under 130.
  • You have not had a blood clot in the last 6 months or used clot-busting drugs in the last 30 days.
  • You do not have severe lung disease needing extra oxygen, severe kidney problems, or bleeding disorders.
