  • You are between 40 and 80 years old.
  • You have type 2 diabetes.
  • You have mild or moderate non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (an early stage of diabetic eye disease that has not caused vision loss or swelling in the central part of the retina).
  • You can take care of yourself day-to-day.
  • You do not have other serious eye conditions (like glaucoma, severe cataracts, or a history of eye surgery).
