This trial tests a special gel made from your own blood (platelet-rich fibrin, or PRF) to help heal diabetic foot ulcers that are not getting better with standard care. It may be an option if you have a mild-to-moderate ulcer on the bottom of your foot with good blood flow and no infection.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older and have type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
  • Your foot ulcer is on the bottom of your foot, below the ankle, not between the toes, and it's been there for at least 30 days.
  • The ulcer is between the size of a dime and a small apple (1 to 12 square centimeters), and less than about a quarter-inch deep, with no exposed bone or tendon.
  • There is no active infection in the wound, and you have good blood flow to your foot (checked with a simple test).
  • You are willing to wear a special boot to keep pressure off the ulcer and follow up for about 14 days of standard care before starting the study treatment.
