Mucus Plugs and Lung MRI in Severe Asthma

This study is looking at how mucus plugs in the airways affect lung function in people with severe asthma. If you are about to start a new injectable asthma treatment (dupilumab, tezepelumab, or benralizumab), you may be able to join and get a special type of lung MRI to see how your lungs are doing.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You have been diagnosed with asthma for more than 1 year.
  • You are about to start a new asthma medication called dupilumab, tezepelumab, or benralizumab as part of your regular care.
  • Your blood eosinophil count is 300 or higher (a blood test shows this).
  • You have not smoked or used vapes, cigars, or marijuana in the last 3 months, and you have smoked less than 10 pack-years total.
  • You have not had a cold or lung infection in the past 4 weeks, and you do not have other serious health problems (like heart disease or cancer).
