Who can take part
- You are 18 to 85 years old.
- You recently had a stroke that doctors could not explain with standard tests (called an ESUS or cryptogenic stroke).
- Your stroke was not a small deep stroke (lacunar).
- You have a problem with the left side of your heart, like mildly reduced pumping strength, a wall motion problem, an aneurysm, or an enlarged heart.
- You do not have a major known cause of stroke from your heart, such as atrial fibrillation, a mechanical valve, or a recent heart attack.
- You are not pregnant, and you can safely have an MRI or CT scan with contrast dye.
