Breathing Machine Strategy to Protect the Heart in ARDS

ARDS (Moderate or Severe)

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have ARDS (severe lung inflammation) caused by pneumonia
  • Your blood oxygen level is low (PaO2/FiO2 of 200 or less)
  • You are on a breathing machine (ventilator) and have been for less than 48 hours
  • You do not have a history of pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs)
