Who can take part
- You are 18 to 80 years old and have atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) that you plan to treat with a first-time catheter ablation procedure.
- You meet weight criteria: either a BMI of 28 or higher, or a BMI of 24 to 28 with at least one related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, or heart disease.
- You have a type of heart failure (HFpEF) that is confirmed during the ablation procedure by measuring pressure in your heart's left upper chamber (must be 15 mmHg or higher).
- Your heart's pumping ability is normal (LVEF of 50% or higher), checked within 30 days before the study.
- You have not used GLP-1 or GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist medications before, and have no history of pancreatitis, certain thyroid cancers, or severe digestive diseases.
