This study tests whether a drug called sirolimus can help treat vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia (VBD)—an abnormal widening of blood vessels in the back of the brain. You may qualify if you have VBD confirmed by imaging and have had a stroke or VBD-related symptoms.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have VBD confirmed by imaging (DSA, CTA, or MRA scans)
  • You have never had VBD rupture or surgery for VBD
  • You have had a stroke in the back of the brain OR have symptoms related to VBD
  • You must take both blood-thinning and cholesterol-lowering medications together, or take neither
  • You have normal liver, kidney, and blood cell counts
