Who can take part

  • You have type 2 diabetes with mild to moderate diabetic retinopathy (eye damage from diabetes)
  • You are between 18 and 70 years old
  • Your blood sugar control is reasonably good (HbA1C below 10%, fasting blood sugar below 240 mg/dL)
  • You have not had eye surgery or laser treatment for your retinopathy
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or using other antioxidant supplements
  • Your liver and kidney function are normal or near-normal
