Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older.
- You have had hypoparathyroidism for at least 12 months, either after thyroid surgery or from other causes like genetics or autoimmune disease.
- You are currently taking at least 0.5 micrograms of calcitriol (a form of vitamin D) or 1.0 micrograms of alfacalcidol each day, plus at least 1000 milligrams of calcium (from supplements) for the past 12 weeks, with stable doses for the last 3 weeks.
- Your blood calcium level (adjusted for protein) has been between 7.8 and 9.4 mg/dL on two tests taken at least one week apart.
- You have not used any other parathyroid hormone drugs (like PTH 1-84 or 1-34) in the last 5 weeks.
